Hong Kong-born actor and singer Aaron Kwok first enrolled in TVB’s dance course in 1984 before switching to the acting course. He subsequently appeared in TV dramas and variety shows while also honing his skills on the big screen. In 1990, a motorcycle commercial in Taiwan saw him become a teen heartthrob overnight, and he released three albums the following year. Kwok continued his career in singing, film and TV acting upon his return to Hong Kong. He was named one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Cantopop and has released more than 50 albums since 1990. In terms of acting, his early roles were mainly youthful rebels. He was involved in more than 30 films, including Saviour of the Soul (1991), Rhythm of Destiny (1992), The Bare-Footed Kid (1993), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1996) and Anna Magdalena (1998). His performances in The Storm Riders (1998), China Strike Force (2000), Throw Down (2004) and Cold War (2012) made a deep impression, and proved that he could make the leap from pop idol to accomplished actor. Kwok won Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence (2005) and After This Our Exile (2006). He also bagged Best Actor for Divergence at the Changchun Film Festival. His recent works include Port of Call (2015), which landed him another gold statue at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
